Full Immersive Prison Experience
A full immersion event inside a decommissioned county jail, preserved in its authentic state and operated without concession to comfort. The building is utilitarian, fortified, and unaltered, and the event runs on the same terms: guests are received as detainees rather than visitors, processed through a fixed procedural sequence, and housed under continuous staff authority from reception to release. Nothing about the arrangement is negotiable, and nothing about it is decorative. You are not accommodated. You are held.
Detention begins at the point of collection and never relaxes. You will be moved on staff initiative, by staff direction, and at staff pace, with no itinerary issued and no explanation owed. You will be collected on our schedule, either by transport van or squad car. Either vehicle means being cuffed and hooded. Nobody will explain the movement or help you decode the noises: engine, indicator, gravel, the rattle of the cage.
Once on site, you will be booked. Booking is administrative and impersonal. Possessions will be listed and taken: phone, wallet, belt, laces, dignity. Prints, mugshot, a pen held to the line, a signature nobody reads. You will sit cuffed to a steel bench and, as you watch, with just a rubber stamp and the click of a pen your identity is surrendered; the file supersedes the person you once were. Intake makes clear the realities of your new world: you will be searched properly, hosed down and deloused, and issued a uniform. The rules will be read to you once, and only once. You will answer to your assigned designation for the remainder of your term.
Housing is single-occupancy, austere, and oppressive. The schedule is established without consultation and enforced without discussion. Compliance is mandatory. There is no clock in the cell. You will organize yourself around the fixed points of the institution: meals, counts, guard movement, lights-out (if they go out). The corridor has its own soundtrack: keys, hatches, a buzzer that means move, and a low concrete hum at night that you’ll hear whether you want to or not. No entertainment is provided, and no discretionary time exists. Work release occurs when assigned, on a quota that is monitored, reviewed, and recorded. Failure to produce will be corrected.
Infractions are addressed immediately and repeated failures escalated at staff discretion, from loss of privilege to restriction to forcible correction. For cause or not, The Warden may order isolation, Her’s alone to authorize and Her’s alone to conclude: open-ended, unexplained, inescapable. Silence in isolation there has its own texture, empty yet oppressive.
Release is likewise discretionary and is not granted on schedule. The experience is not a simulation of custody. It is custody, and it ends when the institution decides it does.
